10 Tips and Inspiration for Decorating Your Space on a Budget

No matter if you have an apartment, an office, a bedroom, or a house, we can all agree that our living space is a place of refuge. Making your home a comfortable place for you to wind down and be at peace are necessary tasks for your living space. Also, creating a space that reflects your personal style and "looks like you" can be a fun and exciting mission to partake in.

Whether you have a $10 budget or $10,000 budget, there are a number of different stores and  websites where you can find small pieces that will make a big difference in your space. In this post, please find pictures of my home, and some of my favorite design tips and accessories that I love having in my space. I hope that it can provide you with inspiration for your home, office, or favorite space. Enjoy.

1. Wall Decals
www.wallsneedlove.com is an awesome website that sells wall decals in cool colors, shapes, and styles. Their decals are also "fool-proof" in that they are removable, reusable, and DON'T take off your paint! I love it! The gold dots and black stripes that I used in these pictures is from Walls Need Love.

2. Wall Art That Showcase Your Personal Style
These three divas are from www.pardonmyfro.com . The prints were on sale at $5 each and I had them custom framed at Hobby Lobby. I love their coloration, positions, and of course hair and fashion style!

3. 3-D Wall Art
When you want to do something more creative to your walls than the standard 2-D paintings and prints, a fun idea are 3-D wall art, including busts or faux animal heads. This little guy right here is an antelope that I got on clearance at Hobby Lobby for $8! It was a major steal! You can find pieces like these at different stores, but I have been seen really great selection at Hobby Lobby.

4. Unique Centerpieces
This Centerpiece on my dining room table was a gift from a friend, and is very unique in that it features a small glass vase with votive candle holders. I filled it with various silk flowers that I got from, you guessed it, Hobby Lobby.

5. House Plant
This is Francesca! She is a Dracaena plant that I got from Lowe's for $12. A house plant can be a great addition to your space. It gives your place some life and color. Just try not to kill it.

6. Bookshelf
A bookshelf is not only a nice piece of furniture for your space, but it's also a great option for storage and is a great way to showcase your collections and decorative pieces. This bookshelf was about $25 from Target. Although it was DIY, it wasn't too hard to make. I use mine for my book collection, a few framed pictures, photo albums, and my collection of souvenir winery wine glasses.

7. Fun Furniture and Storage Pieces
I got this mirrored-face chest from Home Goods on Clearance for $33! I had seen it there a couple weeks earlier for $50 and was astonished to see it there for even less a couple weeks later. it was meant to be! This piece is more than just a cute piece, but it also provides storage, which is always a plus.
The decorative box on top of it was from Hobby Lobby, on clearance for $10!

8. Framed Artwork of Fun/Inspirational Quotes
I got this print for free from a blogging event a couple years ago and got the frame from Target for about $5. Because I wanted to do a black, white, and gold theme in my living room and dining room, this was the perfect opportunity to show off this quote. It also doesn't hurt that I really like the quote.

9. Framed Photos and Decorative Accents
I've collected these black/white photo frames throughout the years. The Damask/French Wallpaper frames featuring my grandmothers were from Hobby Lobby, while the striped frame was from Target.
The two metallic gold accents are 3-D shapes that just further the theme in my living room. They were from Hobby Lobby for under $5 each! (If you couldn't tell by now, Hobby Lobby is my JAM when it comes to home decor!)

10. Cute Pillows
I'm a fan of comfortable and stylish pillows, especially those with great textures and bold prints! I've found that even if your bedding, couch, arm chairs, etc. don't match your color scheme or theme in your space, by adding a cute throw and pillows, you can transform your furniture to fit the theme that you're going for in your room.
The sequin pillow was $20 from Gordman's, while the black and white pillows were both from IKEA for about $10-$20. The turquoise throw on my couch was on clearance for around $10 from Home Goods!

Well there you have it folks. You've seen a glimpse at my humble abode. I love how everything has come together! Another tip to keep in mind is if you select a theme to follow, it can give you focus in your design elements. Something as simple as a color scheme can lead to endless possibilities for style!
